In Memoriam: Peter Nightingale, 60

Veteran of Manny Hanny, Chemical and Chase

Peter Edwards Nightingale of Darien, CT, died Tuesday, Jan. 14. He was 60.

Nightingale began his banking career with Manufacturers Hanover Corporation in New York City. He later worked for Chemical Bank in both London and New York City, Chase Manhattan Corporation in New York City, FleetBoston Financial in New York City, Bank of America in New York City and finally NewStar Financial in Darien, where he worked from 2007 until his passing. Additionally, he served on the Board of Directors of Ring's End, Inc.

Nightingale was born Dec. 1, 1953, grew up in Darien and attended the town's public schools during his childhood, before attending The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor from which he graduated in 1972. He was a graduate of Brown University and the New York University Stern School of Business.

He was a lifelong member of the Noroton Yacht Club in Darien, and also was a member of the Silvermine Golf Club in Norwalk. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Person-to-Person, Inc., a charitable organization in Darien. He was also a member of the congregation at St. Luke's Episcopal Parish in Darien.

Nightingale is survived by his wife, Kim; and sons, Andrew and Scott, both of whom live in New York City.
