In Memoriam: Stephen H. Grant, 67

Financial Analyst at MHT, Chem, Chase

Stephen H. Grant, who worked as a financial analyst for Manufacturers Hanover Trust, Chemical Bank and Chase, died suddenly on December 14, 2022 at the age of 67.

The eldest of six, Grant was born in Suffern, NY. A graduate of SUNY Albany, he earned an MBA at New York University. He was a lifelong student who loved music, theater, literature, politics, history and travel. He was an avid reader and knew something about everything and everything about Motown and British History.

While Grant enjoyed a long and successful career in the financial industry, it was his first work experience following college graduation that he cherished most. He served in the Peace Corps as an 'English as a Foreign Language' teacher in N'Djamena, Chad from 1977 to 1978. It was an experience and commitment, cut short due to a coup and civil war, that deeply affected him.

Grant spent more than 30 years in the banking industry, following his time at MHT, Chemical and Chase with positions at HSBC and DTCC, ultimately retiring from ANZ Bank in July 2021. Earlier in his career he worked for the NYS Department of Taxation and was a Senior Administrator for NYS Assemblyman Robert Connor.

Among Grant's survivors are his five brothers and sisters and their spouses, seven nephews and six nieces, and three great-nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider making a donation in Grant's memory to the Penguin Repertory Theater or United Hospice of Rockland, where he served on their Board of Directors.
