From Ed Moran (Chase, 1966-1985): Bill and I lived in Montclair, NJ for many years, but I never knew him. In 2020, my wife and I moved to Daniel Island, SC, and into the house next door to Bill and his wife, Betsy. Unfortunately, my knowledge of Bill’s banking career came from reading his obituary. By then, although we talked frequently, his memory of what must have been interesting days in the business was a far distant memory. Bill and Betsy have been credited with being part of the group that started the St. Clare of Assisi parish in 2014 here in this relatively new planned development. They located and arranged for the purchase and transportation of vintage stained glass windows and an elaborate alter from a closed convent in Pennsylvania. Fittingly, his was one of the first funerals at the new 800-seat church where the pastor paid great tribute to him during the service.
I regret that I never really knew him. His friends here say, “You should have known Bill back in the old days.”

From Tom Emery: I was a longtime friend of Bill Mallon. We started our banking careers in Jersey City at Commercial Trust Company of New Jersey. In 1970. I attended his wedding in the Boston area and visited him several times at Boston College and stayed in his apartment and dated my girlfriend Ms. Swanfeld while at Bill's apartment.

What a man.

What a banker.

Really respected him always.
