In Memoriam: John (Jack) Evans Gage, 76

SVP, Ex-CFO of Chase's European Operations

John (Jack) Evans Gage, a former senior vice president at Chase, died on June 8, 2023 in Henderson, NV, surrounded by his family after a short battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a week short of his 77th birthday.

Born in Rockford, IL, he graduated from Dartmouth College and its Tuck School of Business Administration (Class of '69). As a CPA, Gage started his career at PriceWaterhouse in New York, followed by an international assignment to the Philippines with Pepsi-Cola, where he met and married his wife Inda, before relocating with Pepsi to Toronto, Canada for a couple of years.

He then joined Chase Manhattan Bank where he spent the bulk of his career, with international assignments in Amsterdam and London, where he was CFO of Chase's European operations. Back in New York, Gage held several executive positions at Chase.  After 28 years with Chase, he retired in 2003 as a Senior Vice President.

In addition to his career in finance, John and Inda raised three children, Malen, Sean and Marla. His son Sean predeceased him in 2010. They lived in Stamford, CT, for 43 years and moved to Henderson, NV, in 2017.

Hawaii, by James Michener, with its descriptive tales of far away islands, made a great impression on this young midwestern boy who had never seen or smelled the ocean. Later in life, Gage fulfilled his dream of owning a beachfront condo residence in Hawaii: The Gages bought a property on Papaoneone Beach in Makaha, on the island of Oahu, HI, where he and Inda enjoyed the simple pleasures of the surrounding nature of the ocean and its wildlife, the mountains, the trade winds, the amazing sunrises and sunsets.

Gage is survived by his wife of 50 years, Inda Manuel Gage; their two daughters and their husbands: Malen and Ralph Fukumoto of Honolulu HI, and Marla and Michael Woulf of Burlington VT, and three grandchildren.
