In Memoriam: Phyllis DiDonato Kodner, 74
30+ Years at MHT, Chemical and Chase, Supporting Many in Different Areas
Phyllis DiDonato Kodner died March 28, 2024 in Naples, FL, after a brief illness.
Kodner began her career at legacy bank Manufacturers Hanover Trust in the 1970s, in its branch banking network in Manhattan. Moving to the Financial Planning & Control area, she focused on systems, operations and profit planning support to other areas, including Private Bank. Projects required Kodner to work in Japan, Germany and Delaware. She was sponsored for a semester at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY.
Joining Corporate Marketing, Kodner supported special events and market research. With the Manufacturers Hanover-Chemical merger, she landed in the Middle Market Banking Group, focusing on profitability reporting, operations and merger integration. Her grasp of bank systems, coupled with a service orientation, proved to be an asset through the mergers that followed.
After retiring from Chase in 2007, Phyllis joined the Unified Court System of New York, retiring in 2016.
Phyllis graduated from Pace University, and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, NY, where she studied design. With a keen eye for design and home décor, she helped many decorate their homes and select more fashion-forward wardrobes.
Residing in Staten Island, NY, and Naples, FL, Kodner loved to garden, refinish and repurpose furniture, volunteer and care for her cats; she was a lauded chef of all things Italian. In New York, she was the president of her homeowners association. She and her husband loved to travel, always bringing home beautiful souvenirs and mementos for friends and family.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Kodner, two sisters, four nieces, four nephews and seven grandnieces. Five siblings predeceased her.
