In Memoriam: Roman Koifman, 68
Product Strategist, Developer, Manager at CMB

Roman Koifman, 68, of Paramus, NJ, died on October 8, 2024. Among his roles at Chase Manhattan during a 17-year tenure at the bank, he was head of International Business Development and Marketing.
A graduate of Princeton University (BA, Economics) and Harvard Business School (MBA), Koifman started out as a product manager at American Express for four years. He joined Chase in 1988, as a VP/Manager of Product Development. This was followed by a year as VP, Strategy, Insurance Products. He next managed a $2 billion portfolio with 750,000 customers: In two years, he turned an unprofitable business in Advantage Line of Credit into a business generating over $55 million in annual profit. He then became head of product development and management for credit cards for Chase Manhattan. By 1997 he was VP, International Consumer, to launch new card businesses globally. In 2000, and for five years, Koifman was VP, eBusiness Manager, founding the bank's eBusiness and mCommerce platforms.
Koifman left Chase in 2005 for MasterCard, where he was SVP, Group Head, Advanced Payments for two years. He was subsequently a consultant in Financial Services at CKL Partners, and then, for more than a decade, Principal at his own consulting practice, Loft Services, Inc., in the areas of retail payments, digital strategy and transformation, and research. From November 2013 to February 2020, Koifman was strategy director for Capgemini Invent.
Among his survivors are his wife, Olga.
