In Memoriam: Joseph L. Giunta, 88
Industrial Engineer for MHT, Chemical and Chase

Joseph L. Giunta, an industrial engineer for Manufacturers Hanover Trust, Chemical Bank and Chase Manhattan, died on October 27, 2024. He was 88 and had lived in Midland Park, NJ,
Born in Teaneck, NJ, he was the son of Sicilian immigrants. He was raised in Bergenfield, NJ.
He earned a BA in Economics from Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he was captain of the tennis team, and then received an MS in Industrial Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
While he was in college, Giunta joined the National Guard and then voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He was a tank commander and also was assigned to finding and disassembling explosive devices. He rose to the rank of Captain while on active duty and then continued in the Army Reserves. He retired from his military career of 35 years as a Lieutenant Colonel. He will be buried with full military honors.
Among his survivors are his wife of 54 years Judith Marie Wachter Giunta, two daughters, a son, and five grandchildren.
