In Memoriam: Jürgen Blumschein, 84

Manager for Chase in Frankfurt, Riyadh, Istanbul

 
 

Jürgen Blumschein, who worked for Chase Manhattan from 1969 to 1990 in the United States, Austria, Germany, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, died on January 25, 2025 in Frankfurt. He was 84.

 

Born in Bitburg, Germany, he spent his formative youth in Düsseldorf. He earned a degree in general business management at J.W.Goethe-Universität, Frankfurt, before joining Chase.

 

He was seconded by Chase Manhattan to The Saudi Investment Bank in Riyadh, from 1978 to mid-1983, as Assistant General Manager. He then served for 4.5 years as a Vice president and Assistant General Manager of The Chase Manhattan Bank N.A. in Istanbul. Blumschein returned to Frankfurt in February 1988, serving as a Director of Chase Bank AG and Relationship Manager for key German accounts.

 

After leaving Chase, Blumschein was a Director for Société Générale Germany and General Manager, for 9.5 years, for the Arab Banking Corporation, Daus & Co., in Frankfurt.

 

According to his LinkedIn page, for the nearly 20 years prior to his death, Blumschein was a "Happy Pensioner, enjoying life at whatever place I happen to like".

 

Blumschein was active on his coop board and an avid car racing enthusiast.

 

He is survived by his wife, Gertrud, and two sons, Mathias and Oliver.
