In Memoriam: Timothy Sullivan, 71

Numerous roles at Lincoln First & Chase, 1978-1992

Timothy (Tim) Denis Sullivan, of Cortlandt Manor, NY, who worked for Chase and one of its heritage banks from 1978 to 1992, died on July 3, 2025. He was 71.

A native of New York, he received his bachelor's degree from Manhattan University and earned a master's degree from Fordham University. He began at Lincoln First Bank in 1978. When he joined Chase, he went through Credit Training and stayed on as an instructor. Over his years at Chase, Sullivan worked in Corporate Human Resources, Credit Policy & Audit/Risk Management, Branch Banking, Regional Banking and Middle Market Banking.

After Chase, Sullivan worked for three years at M&T Bank. Chase Alumnus Anton Mallner helped Sullivan move to Amalgamated Bank afterwards. Mallner said that at Amalgamated, Sullivan "worked on the marketing side and raised the level of loan and business analysis with his team and eventually became EVP of marketing." He remained there until 2007.

Starting in January 2008, Sullivan served as President and CEO of Sunnyside Federal Saving and Loan, retiring in 2023.

Sullivan had a deep love for history and ancestry, often tracing family roots and sharing stories of the past. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan who rarely missed a game and had a passion for classic baseball lore.

Among his survivors are his wife, Susan, a daughter and son, four grandchildren and three sisters.

The family asks for memorial donations to be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or the New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation.

From Ed MoranI met Tim when I was a consultant to Amalgamated’s Real Estate Department and an associated trust department fund. I could always depend upon Tim to give me a straight answer and to do the right thing. Unfortunately, that was not always the case with some of his associates. I’m sad to see him pass on at a relatively young age. RIP
