In Memoriam: Malcolm Davies, 88

Headed MHT's World Trade Corporation

Malcolm Davies, former President of Manufacturers Hanover Trust's World Trade Corporation, died on November 1, 2026, at his home in St. Mary's-by-the-Sea in Bridgeport, CT. He was 88.

Davies was born in Neath, Wales. As a young boy, he witnessed the atrocities of World War II, watching from his family home looking down across the Neath Valley at aerial assaults on the Swansea oil refinery, a strategic target for Germany's nighttime bombing raids. After high school, he declined a prestigious accounting job at the Steel Company of Wales and instead secured a full scholarship to the London School of Economics at age 17. He was the first in his family to go to university.

After working successfully for several London firms, including the British Aircraft Corporation, Davies was hired by Manufacturers Hanover Trust, where he became an expert in global trade finance. He moved to the United States and settled with his family in Westport, CT, when MHT appointed him President of its World Trade Corporation in New York.

Survivors include Francesca, his wife of 60 years; a son, Matthew (Lucy) Davies and daughter, Talitha Davies Wegner; and three grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield, CT, from 1 pm to 3 pm.

The family asks that, In lieu of flowers, "please, if you are able, seek a trail through woods or fields or sandy shores to walk on and breathe; commune with the beauty of nature in Malcolm's memory."
