In Memoriam: Herbert (Herb) Cohen, 78

VP in Financial and Controllers' Roles over 33-Year Chase Career

 
Herbert (Herb) Cohen, of Glenrock, NJ, former VP and Financial Manager, Western Hemisphere, and VP, Controllers Department/ Special Financial Projects at Chase, died on August 10, 2025. He was 78.
 
Born in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, he was a graduate of Brooklyn College, where he met his wife of 56 years, Arlene, at a school dance. He went on to earn his MBA at NYU and had a 33-year career – from 1969 to 2002 – at Chase.
 
After leaving Chase, he spent five years teaching middle school math before officially retiring.
 
Retirement also brought lots of time for travel, bike riding, swimming, tennis, singing, bridge and spending time with family and friends.
 
Among his survivors are his wife, a daughter and grandchildren.
 
Donations in his memory can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or to CancerCare.
