In Memoriam: James Tiernan, 102

40 Years at Chase; Ran NY-Area Branches

 
James (Jim) Tiernan, of Stony Point, NY, died on February 6, 2026, at the age of 102. (The photo shows him at 100.)
 

Tiernan was a Vice President at Chase and worked in various capacities for the bank, between 1941 to 1985. He served for over 10 years as Division Executive of the entire communities of Bronx/Washington Heights/ Westchester /Rockland/Mid-Hudson/ Brooklyn/ Staten Island. 

 
A Bronx native, he attended Mount Saint Michael Academy and Rutgers College.
 
Taking time out from Chase during World War II, Tiernan served as a pilot with the U.S. Air Force, flying 38 missions over Europe.  
 
Post retirement, Tiernan spent his time travelling, playing golf and spending times with his five  daughters, his 18 grandchildren and his 20 great-grandchildren. His wife, Kathleen, died in 2015.
