Chase Alumni: Risk and Rewards

Dear Reader,

This week we feature an interview with Duff McDonald, author of the Jamie Dimon biography, Last Man Standing: The Ascent of Jamie Dimon and JPMorgan Chase -- a profile of an already legendary banker who paid attention to risk better than anyone on Wall Street.

Speaking of risk: Click below to learn about a program that may be of interest to CAA members, sponsored by the Risk Management Association in NYC this Wednesday, March 24, 2010.

Pictures! Pictures! See below for photos from a recent reunion in the Dominican Republic of Chase officers who served there in the late 1970s and 1980s .

This coming Friday, March 26, 2010, is the first CAA event in Florida -- a special lunch and wine tasting at CAA member Frank Reider's restaurant in Delray Beach, Fla.  Guests will not only hear from Reider, who just published a book on South American wines, but also a representative of Terrazas, the Argentine subsidiary of Cheval Blanc, a truly outstanding Bordeaux.  They'll also get to taste a new release from Lapostolle, Grand Marnier's Chilean subsidiary – and hear from CAA President John Ward. Non-members and designated drivers are welcome.

The members-only NYC spring reception, to be held at the 3 West Club (3 W 51st St.) on Thursday, April 22, 2010, is only a month away, and more than 105 alumni have already registered. The price is $23 online ($35.75 at the door). Space may be limited, so we encourage you to register early.

Once again there's room for just one more single for the CAA Netherlands reunion.  If you are part of a couple wanting to join the waiting list, please contact Ken Jablons (jablonkt@aol.com), and let him know whether you would be paying in U.S. dollars or euros.

Hans van den Houten, CAA's founder and chairman emeritus, will replace Tony Walton as the speaker for the June 8, 2010 gathering by CAA San Francisco.  We wish Tony luck in his newly scheduled shoulder surgery: Speedy recovery!
