Author Inquiry re Gordon Bunshaft

Do any of you have stories concerning architect Gordon Bunshaft, his visits, his opinions, and his role in the design of 1 Chase Manhattan Plaza? Nicholas Adams, Mary Conover Mellon Professor in the History of Architecture at Vassar College, is writing a book for Yale University Press about Bunshaft (1909–1990).  Adams says he prefers instances at which people were present, but “good stories” are always welcome. He is happy to maintain anonymity if requested. He can be reached at niadams@vassar.edu.

Tampa-Area Alumna Wins Dow Prediction Contest

Marilyn Hauser has won our second annual contest to guess this year's ending Dow, with a guess of 19,876.20–only about 114 points off the actual close. (Predictions were due on September 23rd.) She's our second winner from the CAA Tampa chapter, and hers was the second highest closing figure. (Someone predicted a high of 20,842.60.) We had 75 entries, and the median guess was 18,343.
