We invite you to pay tribute to that individual in a short essay. You must write about an employee of Chase, Chemical, Manny Hanny, Bank One or the other banks that are the heritage of JPMorgan Chase. Please include specifics. If you have a photo of yourself with your mentor, please send it. Essays must be sent to news@chasealum.org by 5 pm (Eastern) on Sunday, November 21st. The feature will run on Thanksgiving Weekend.

NEWS & EVENTS (PAST AND FUTURE)
 # HOW NOW, DOW JONES CONTEST: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 35,457.31 on October 19, 2021, the contest deadline to predict where the Dow will be at the end of the year. (The Dow was up to 35,819.56 when it closed on Friday, October 29, 2021.) Our members' estimates ranged from 31,232.56 to 39,772.06, with a mean of 35,778.07. Time will tell! The winner will receive a $250 Amazon gift card. Do you have an idea for a contest? If so, let us know.
 CAA Frankfurt Thanksgiving Gathering: The Thanksgiving Einladung will take place at the Frankfurt Golf Club on Thursday, November 25, 2021. Click here for more information and an RSVP form.
 9/11: Twenty Years Later
We are sharing a diverse group of essays and shorter recollections by Chase alumni.
Part One features stories by Stephen Eulie, Robert Gordon, Karen Ann McDermott, Chris Carlin, John Rakowski, James Paddon, Ed Moran and Fred McCarthy. Part One also contains links to articles on 9/11 we have run in the past, including an interview with Charlie Maikish.
Part Two offers stories by Peter Dodds, Gene Swanzey, Tom Mulligan, Susan Friedland Mittler, Ralph Aiello, Robert C. Carroll, Penny Quinn, Paul Quinn, Gail Cieszkiewicz, Mike Prasad and, from the October 2001 print issue of the Chase Alumni Association newsletter, writing from Hans van den Houten, Janet Besso Becker and Tony Zenna.

LIFE AFTER CHASE
 Anne-Marie Barcia built a lifelong career out of what she learned in Chase credit training – how to train bankers! She even found the "Bailey manual" in Egypt!
 Read about the other two (or is it three and counting?) careers of Robert Aberlin, and learn how some Chase connections led from one thing to another in film, the dance world and education. Jim Adamson commented on the story, adding a great anecdote...worth a read!

 Keith Wheatley isn't strictly a Chase alumnus, but he was the "Plant Man" and "Flower Man" at Woolgate House in the 1980s and 1990s. He hopes his recollections will trigger some others. (The photo is of him from around that era.)

IN MEMORIAM
In Memoriams: Please send remembrances to news@chasealum.org
 Edward D. Miller, former vice chair of Manufacturers Hanover Trust, president of Chemical Bank and senior vice chair of Chase Manhattan, died September 26, 2021, age 80. He helped engineer the mergers of these banks.
 # Ann M. Ahern, a former VP in corporate human resources at Chase Manhattan who worked for the bank for 47 years, died in Manhattan on September 15, 2021, age 88. Read the touching appreciations of her.
 Peter R. Vermylen died on September 1, 2021 of Parkinson's Disease, at the age of 72. He had been a VP and division executive at Chase Manhattan for more than a decade before joining Salomon as an investment banker in 1986.
How Best to Use the CAA Membership Directory
 If you have not done so recently, please update the information in your profile, so that the CAA and other members would be better able to contact you. Using the Membership Directory is a privilege of dues-paying CAA members.
Now get a refresher on how to best use the membership directory to find an individual or groups of individuals you would like to contact. (Note that only dues-paying members have access to the directory.).
To get to the directory, log in at www.chasealum.org. On the home page menu, click on Membership and then Member Directory.
When searching by name, or in any of the other search areas, we advise starting by putting in less information in the search field. For example, if you want to find William Smith, type only Smith in the Search by Name box; if you put in “William Smith” and he is calling himself Bill Smith in his profile, you will not find him.
If you want to find members who live near you, enter the city, state or country (or any combination) under Location. The Years at Chase search is very valuable. Type in 1996-2005, for instance, and you will find everyone who worked for the bank (including heritage banks) during those years. You can narrow your search by also typing in a location or job title.
Once you have entered the search words, click on Search at the bottom of the page. When members’ names appear, click on their names to obtain more detailed information about them.
