You have until 11:59 pm (EDT) on Wednesday, March 31, 20201, to submit your prediction for what the JPM stock price will be at the close of market on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. Entries should be to two decimal places.
Your entry should be sent to news@chasealum.org. Subject line: JPM Stock Price. Please include your name. Because of various laws, the contest is open only to dues-paying members of the CAA. Only one entry is permitted per member, and no changes are permitted.
The winner will receive a $200 Amazon gift certificate.
CHEM/CHASE...MHT/CHEM...HERITAGE/ MERGER MEMORIES
# On March 31st we will mark the 25th anniversary of Chemical Bank's acquisition of Chase Manhattan Bank and the assumption of the name Chase. The Chase Alumni Association often gets feedback that we neglect our members whose careers began at Manufacturers Hanover or Chemical Bank. So we're asking now for your stories about "the old days" at those two banks. Please send your story ideas or essays to news@chasealum.org. Separately, if you have stories about the merger, please let us know. We need your help to honor the anniversary!
In the Room Where It Happened: Special thanks to former JPMorgan Chase Vice Chair Don Layton for a superb article, The Merger Name Game, with insights into why Chemical's name outlasted Manufacturers Hanover, Chemical gave way to Chase and JPMorgan Chase wasn't named Chase Morgan.
 # Starting at MHT: We've added sweet rememberances of MHT by Penny Quinn, whose mother also worked for the bank, but when Manufacturers and Hanover banks were only "associated".
 Talk about Old Money! See four examples from Tom Buda's exceptional collection of 18th to 20th century bank ephemera and currency, including a bank check signed by Aaron Burr.

 We have put together a compendium of past CAA events, with links to photos (viewable only by dues-paying CAA members). Of course, none of us has aged in these photos (from 2005 to 2020). Until we meet again in person!

 Old Bank Commercials: Enjoy watching old bank commercials! We're starting by posting links to old MHT commercials, including a couple featuring Tim Conway.
Here's a link to several old Chemical Bank commercials, featuring taglines you'll remember, such as "When the need is financial, the reaction is Chemical", "the Bank with the Hometown Touch" and "Human Touch, Financial Edge".
 Read a new story in the ABA (American Banking Association) Journal about the history of the Chase National Bank. Some of the facts may surprise you.

# Social distancing is still the norm, but not virtual social distancing! We hope you'll consider the CAA web platform as a way to reach out to others and keep from going stir crazy: Read previously published stories (mostly under "News" or "Life After Chase"), or write a new one for us.
Please consider sharing with us any special stories you have about displacement, odd or funny stories about how you are occupying your time or old banking stories you've delayed writing up for us because you were too busy doing other things. Please keep sending your book recommendations (and reasons for recommending).

 # The CAA mourns the death of longtime member
Dick Corrigan, who died on March 4, 2021 in Florida.
Ten of his 17 years with Chase had been spent in Malaysia and Singapore.
 King Frederick Lowe, 84, who began his banking career at Chase Manhattan in 1965, died on February 27, 2021.
 Tom Kitz, 76, who worked at Chase for 42 years, died of cancer on December 13, 2020. He was a long-time CAA member and had worked in Global Strategic Planning. Read the appreciation by his friend and colleague Russ Campbell.
How Best to Use the CAA Membership Directory
 If you have not done so recently, please update the information in your profile, so that the CAA and other members would be better able to contact you. Using the Membership Directory is a privilege of dues-paying CAA members.
Now get a refresher on how to best use the membership directory to find an individual or groups of individuals you would like to contact. (Note that only dues-paying members have access to the directory.).
To get to the directory, log in at www.chasealum.org. On the home page menu, click on Membership and then Member Directory.
When searching by name, or in any of the other search areas, we advise starting by putting in less information in the search field. For example, if you want to find William Smith, type only Smith in the Search by Name box; if you put in “William Smith” and he is calling himself Bill Smith in his profile, you will not find him.
If you want to find members who live near you, enter the city, state or country (or any combination) under Location. The Years at Chase search is very valuable. Type in 1996-2005, for instance, and you will find everyone who worked for the bank (including heritage banks) during those years. You can narrow your search by also typing in a location or job title.
Once you have entered the search words, click on Search at the bottom of the page. When members’ names appear, click on their names to obtain more detailed information about them.
