# Nicholas Sargen will discuss his book JPMorgan's Fall and Revival with business journalist Consuela Mack at a virtual event sponsored by the Museum of American Finance. The program is free, but pre-registration is required. We welcome reactions to the talk and to the book.
Having just observed the 19th anniversary of 9/11, we're providing the links to 9/11-related stories we've posted in the past:

We have put together a compendium of past CAA events, with links to photos (viewable only by dues-paying CAA members). Of course, none of us has aged in these photos (from 2005 to 2020). Until we meet again in person!
A kindly non-alumnus acquired (and scanned) a copy of the September 1932 issue of The Chase, a monthly magazine published by The Chase National Bank. Dues-paying CAA members can click here to read the articles that give a snapshot of banking and Chase during The Great Depression.
►Click here to see photos from a Vienna "Heurigen", July 2, 2020.

CONTESTS! (A winner and a new contest)
NEW CONTEST, No. 3: How Now, Dow Jones!
Guess where the Dow will be when the market closes on Thursday, December 31, 2020. Predictions are due by Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 5pm Eastern. You can only send one entry, which should be to two decimal places. Please send to news@chasealum.org, with Dow in the subject line. You must be a dues-paying CAA member to be eligible for the $250 Amazon gift card that will go to the winner.
Forty alumni guessed Kamala Harris. Their names were shuffled in a hat and one was drawn by a blindfolded representative of PriceWaterhouse (not quite, but we were scrupulously honest about picking the name)...and the winner is Harry (Trip) Haldt, whose book is featured below under "Life After Chase". Congratulations on winning a $250 Amazon gift card! from among the correct prognosticators.
Contest No. 2: Where will JPMorgan Chase stock (JPM) be at the close of the third quarter?
Submissions are closed. Predictions ranged from $56.88 to $128, with a median guess of $103.76.
As of the market close on Friday, September 11, the price was $101.07, up $2.47 since the contest ended on Monday, June 1. Since then, the price has ranged from $92.18 (July 9) on $113.45 (June 8)...so fasten your seatbelts!

Please consider sharing with us any special stories you have about displacement, odd or funny stories about how you are occupying your time or old banking stories you've delayed writing up for us because you were too busy doing other things. Please keep sending your book recommendations (and reasons for recommending).
Social distancing is the new norm, but not virtual social distancing! We hope you'll consider the CAA web platform as a way to reach out to others and keep from going stir crazy: Read previously published stories (mostly under "News" or "Life After Chase"), or write a new one for us.

LIFE AFTER CHASE
Ottho Heldring (Chase 1972-1998 and CAA board member) is on another road trip -- no interstate -- from Baltimore to Seattle and back, with some major side trips. He posts photos with text daily on Facebook. You can follow his journey at fb.com/ottho.heldring. This page is public, but he'd be quite happy to accept friend requests. Many Chase alumni followed him on his trips in the United States, the UK and elsewhere since 2015. (The photo–"Bring Your Wrecks to Rex"–was taken in Vincennes, Indiana.)
Read how a daughter's death made Vicente Monge Alcalde seek what he calls "responsible happiness" and create a foundation in Santiago to help children with cancer during their treatment. A PDF of a book about his daughter's journey is available upon request.
Harry P. (Trip) Haldt III has compiled and edited his father's memoir of having been a youthful "amateur mariner" in the romantic and turbulent period of 1931 to 1939. Read about this magical book, Upper To'Gallants and Ruddy Scuppers.

How Best to Use the CAA Membership Directory
If you have not done so recently, please update the information in your profile, so that the CAA and other members would be better able to contact you. Using the Membership Directory is a privilege of dues-paying CAA members.
Now get a refresher on how to best use the membership directory to find an individual or groups of individuals you would like to contact. (Note that only dues-paying members have access to the directory.).
To get to the directory, log in at www.chasealum.org. On the home page menu, click on Membership and then Member Directory.
When searching by name, or in any of the other search areas, we advise starting by putting in less information in the search field. For example, if you want to find William Smith, type only Smith in the Search by Name box; if you put in “William Smith” and he is calling himself Bill Smith in his profile, you will not find him.
If you want to find members who live near you, enter the city, state or country (or any combination) under Location. The Years at Chase search is very valuable. Type in 1996-2005, for instance, and you will find everyone who worked for the bank (including heritage banks) during those years. You can narrow your search by also typing in a location or job title.
Once you have entered the search words, click on Search at the bottom of the page. When members’ names appear, click on their names to obtain more detailed information about them.
If you have any problem with any of this, contact Ken Jablon at jablonkt@aol.com.
As always: If the links do not work for you, you can always access the latest stories by logging on to CAA's web site.
If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to Ken Jablon or call Ken (during normal working hours) at 212-799-9525.
By the by: Don't forget to explore the rest of the CAA Web site. Just click on the home page menu buttons to find the news archive, photo album, membership directory, past In Memoriams and benefit information.
