JPMorgan Chase is making available its 13th floor space at 383 Madison Avenue (southeast corner of Madison Avenue and East 47th Street) for us to have a gathering on Thursday, October 14, 2021, 5:30-7:30 pm. The reception is free, but registration is required. Attendance is limited to 50 people and you must be a dues-paying CAA member. You must be vaccinated and willing to wear a mask (except when eating or drinking). Chase Legend Mike Esposito is planning to attend!
 # NEW CONTEST: How Now, Dow Jones 2021 Guess where the Dow will be when the market closes on Friday, December 31, 2021. Predictions are due by Tuessday, October 18, 2021 at 4 pm Eastern. You can only send one entry, which should be to two decimal places. Please send to news@chasealum.org, with Dow in the subject line. You must be a dues-paying CAA member to be eligible for the $250 Amazon gift card that will go to the winner.
 # Pay Tribute to Your Mentor: Did you have a mentor at the bank who helped shape your career, values and interests, someone who went beyond just being your boss? We invite you to pay tribute to that individual in a short essay. You must write about an employee of Chase, Chemical, Manny Hanny, Bank One or the other banks that are the heritage of JPMorgan Chase. Please include specifics. If you have a photo of yourself with your mentor, please send it. Essays must be sent to news@chasealum.org by 5 pm (Eastern) on Sunday, November 21st. The feature will run on Thanksgiving Weekend.

 9/11: Twenty Years Later
As we approach the somber anniversary, we are sharing a diverse group of essays and shorter recollections by Chase alumni.
Part One features stories by Stephen Eulie, Robert Gordon, Karen Ann McDermott, Chris Carlin, John Rakowski, James Paddon, Ed Moran and Fred McCarthy. Part One also contains links to articles on 9/11 we have run in the past, including an interview with Charlie Maikish.
Part Two offers a recently-added essay by Mike Prasad, plus stories by Peter Dodds, Gene Swanzey, Tom Mulligan, Susan Friedland Mittler, Ralph Aiello, Robert C. Carroll, Penny Quinn, Paul Quinn, Gail Cieszkiewicz and, from the October 2001 print issue of the Chase Alumni Association newsletter, writing from Hans van den Houten, Janet Besso Becker and Tony Zenna.

 We have put together a compendium of past CAA events, with links to photos (viewable only by dues-paying CAA members). Of course, none of us has aged in these photos (from 2005 to 2020).

LIFE AFTER CHASE
 # Congratulations to longtime CAA member Mario Rosellini, who will be honored on October 8, 2021 with The Italian Tribune's Christopher Columbus Community Service Award at the West Orange, NJ-based pubication's Columbus Awards Gala. The 50th annual gala will be held at Birchwood Manor in Whippany, NJ.
Rosellini worked at Chase for nearly 30 years, from 1965 to 1995, in risk management and insurance. He is now Managing Director of Dynative Solutions Group in Wayne, NJ.
Rosellini is very active in his community and has been a member of both the Foundation and Advisory Boards of Chilton Medical Center and has served several years as Chairman of the Foundation Board , for which he is currently second Vice Chair. He also serves on several committees of the Chilton Medical Center and the Atlantic Health System. His philanthropic activities also extend to Seton Hall University (Insurance Advisory Board Member), North Jersey Lions Foundation, Wayne Lions Club (former President), and Wayne Senior Housing Board. He has also advised the CAA on its insurance needs, for which we are mighty grateful.
 Read about the other two (or is it three and counting?) careers of Robert Aberlin, and learn how some Chase connections led from one thing to another in film, the dance world and education. Jim Adamson commented on the story, adding a great anecdote...worth a read!
MOMENTS IN BANK HISTORY
# Object of the Week: Hmmm...and the abacus seemed so, well, yesterday, even when this ad ran in 1970. The copy reads:
When you're a world bank like Chase, you keep plugged in to the latest in data processing. We have to–simply to give our customers the service they expect. For example, Chase helped develop a whole new computer language. Computer folks consider it quite an innovation. The same creative thinking could be helping your company. Chase makes things happen. Remember...you have a friend at Chase.

 Keith Wheatley isn't strictly a Chase alumnus, but he was the "Plant Man" and "Flower Man" at Woolgate House in the 1980s and 1990s. He hopes his recollections will trigger some others. (The photo is of him from around that era.)

 # Edward D. Miller, former vice chair of Manufacturers Hanover Trust, president of Chemical Bank and senior vice chair of Chase Manhattan, died September 26, 2021, age 80. He helped engineer the mergers of these banks.
 # Ann M. Ahern, a former VP in corporate human resources at Chase Manhattan who worked for the bank for 47 years, died in Manhattan on September 15, 2021, age 88. Read the touching appreciations of her.
 The CAA mourns the death of its longtime member William (Bill) J. Crusoe, who died on July 31 2021 at the age of 73.
 # Peter R. Vermylen died on September 1, 2021 of Parkinson's Disease, at the age of 72. He had been a VP and division executive at Chase Manhattan for more than a decade before joining Salomon as an investment banker in 1986.
 Paul G. Farrell, one of four Farrell siblings who worked for JPMorgan Chase and former Foreign Exchange Sales Manager, died August 14, 2021 at the age of 67. He had a 35-year career at Chase.
How Best to Use the CAA Membership Directory
 If you have not done so recently, please update the information in your profile, so that the CAA and other members would be better able to contact you. Using the Membership Directory is a privilege of dues-paying CAA members.
Now get a refresher on how to best use the membership directory to find an individual or groups of individuals you would like to contact. (Note that only dues-paying members have access to the directory.).
To get to the directory, log in at www.chasealum.org. On the home page menu, click on Membership and then Member Directory.
When searching by name, or in any of the other search areas, we advise starting by putting in less information in the search field. For example, if you want to find William Smith, type only Smith in the Search by Name box; if you put in “William Smith” and he is calling himself Bill Smith in his profile, you will not find him.
If you want to find members who live near you, enter the city, state or country (or any combination) under Location. The Years at Chase search is very valuable. Type in 1996-2005, for instance, and you will find everyone who worked for the bank (including heritage banks) during those years. You can narrow your search by also typing in a location or job title.
Once you have entered the search words, click on Search at the bottom of the page. When members’ names appear, click on their names to obtain more detailed information about them.
