Chase Alumni: Trivia Contest! Blizzard Socks + Chase National Bank

Dear Reader,   NOTE: Existing stories (including In Memoriams) that feature new comments or material are indicated with a #.   # Register Now for the Bank History Trivia Contest!  How much do you know – or want to learn – about the history of all the banks in the DNA of JPMorgan Chase?   Join us for a fun, interactive CAA outing on Zoom with members of the JPMC Archives Department on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, 1-2 pm (Eastern).   The session is free but open only to dues-paying CAA members. You must pre-register to receive the link, and participation is limited to 98 people. Click here to register and for more info.   (The top scorer will win a $200 Amazon gift card, and the top three scorers will be invited to a private tour of the Archives when things get back to normal.)   CHEM/CHASE...MHT/CHEM...MERGER MEMORIES                            # In less than three months (March 31, 2021), we will mark the 25th anniversary of Chemical Bank's acquisition of Chase Manhattan Bank and the assumption of the name Chase. The Chase Alumni Association often gets feedback that we neglect our members whose careers began at Manufacturers Hanover or Chemical Bank. So we're asking now for your stories about "the old days" at those two banks. Please send your story ideas or essays to news@chasealum.org. Separately, if you have stories about the merger, please let us know. We need your help to honor the anniversary!   We're starting the celebration by posting pictures of various Chemical, Manny Hanny and Chase memorabilia. Object of the Week (left): From Yolanda (Lonnie) Hardy: Socks and scarves were issued to approximately 500 IT (Information Technology & Operations Group) staffers who braved the January 1996 winter storm by commuting to their offices to keep the systems running.                Talk about Old Money! Chekijian, former SVP/real estate for Manny Hanny, Michael Prasad, Ed Moran and CJ Smith.     NEWS & EVENTS (PAST AND FUTURE)                                          The greatest optimist among us won the "guess the closing Dow of 2020" contest: Joe Sinzer. When the contest closed on September 30, 2020, the Dow was at 27,781.70. It closed on December 31, 2020 at 30,606.48. Sinzer's prediction for the closing Dow was the highest we received: 29,977.69.             Read Rudi Bogni's article, newly published in Wilmott Magazine: "The Strange New Wealth Tax". Bogni is a member of CAA London.           Can you beat Jim Haynes's record? He has given 52 years of continuous service to Chase! Let us know if you have worked for Chase longer.           Nicholas Sargen discussed his upcoming book JPMorgan's Fall and Revival with business journalist Consuela Mack at a virtual event sponsored by the Museum of American Finance and Fordham's Gabelli School of Business on October 6, 2020. Using the Membership Directory is a privilege of dues-paying CAA members.   Now get a refresher on how to best use the membership directory to find an individual or groups of individuals you would like to contact. (Note that only dues-paying members have access to the directory.).   To get to the directory, log in at www.chasealum.org. On the home page menu, click on Membership and then Member Directory.   When searching by name, or in any of the other search areas, we advise starting by putting in less information in the search field. For example, if you want to find William Smith, type only Smith in the Search by Name box; if you put in “William Smith” and he is calling himself Bill Smith in his profile, you will not find him.   If you want to find members who live near you, enter the city, state or country (or any combination) under Location. The Years at Chase search is very valuable. Type in 1996-2005, for instance, and you will find everyone who worked for the bank (including heritage banks) during those years. You can narrow your search by also typing in a location or job title.   Once you have entered the search words, click on Search at the bottom of the page.
